After being on the road for 30 years, God began to clarify a new direction for my life. In 1998, my wife Heidi and I went to Indonesia to visit some friends who were missionaries. Through two weeks of sickness and reading a great book by John Piper (“The Pleasures of God”), God began to impress upon me the glory of His sovereign majesty.

After returning to the states, I began to read everything I could find by Piper, Charles Spurgeon, R. C. Sproul and D. A. Carson. I began to read God’s word with new enthusiasm and greater understanding. God began working in my heart, planting a desire to go to seminary and further my biblical education. I began taking classes at Reformed Theological Seminary at their extension campus in Northern Virginia.

In 2004, I learned of two churches near my home that were looking for worship leaders. I auditioned to lead worship at Reston Bible Church in May of 2004 and felt the pleasure of the Lord as I sang. Two weeks later they offered me the position and I happily accepted. RBC is a church of 2,000 people in the high tech corridor near Washington D.C..

I asked the elders of the church if they would be open to me continuing to do a few Glad concerts each year and they readily agreed. We have been doing 10 – 15 concerts per year since then.

I was ordained as a pastor in September of 2005. I am privileged to help lead worship at our three services each weekend. I also serve as the executive pastor and an elder in our church. RBC gives me the opportunity to preach a few times each year. Here you’ll find some links to those sermons.

i think the men in GLAD enjoy singing more now than we ever have before. We have a firmer grasp on the gospel than we had as young men and there is great joy in sharing this music, which is filled with rich truth.

I hope to see you out on the road sometime soon.
